WebSocket Playground
Connect to a WebSocket server to start sending and receiving messages.
About this tool
A browser-based WebSocket client that connects to any ws:// or wss://
endpoint — useful for testing APIs, IoT device streams, chat servers, or any real-time service.
All traffic stays between your browser and the target server; nothing passes through this site.
Features
- JSON mode — auto-formats received messages; validates + pretty-prints outgoing JSON
- Binary mode — send raw hex bytes (e.g.
FF 01 02 03); binary frames shown as hex dump - Timestamps — every message line is timestamped to the millisecond
- Templates — one-click boilerplate for common WebSocket message patterns
- Log export — download the full session as a
.txtfile - Reconnect — automatically updates status if the server closes the connection
Tips
- Use Ctrl+Enter to send without reaching for the mouse
- Browsers block
ws://(plain, non-TLS) connections from HTTPS pages; usewss://echo servers for quick tests - The URL hash updates each time you connect — bookmark it to restore the server URL
